In December office hours for NX access, pepper and its video card were diagnosed as obsolete/incompatible with NX support.
We acquired a new machine and video card following Troy's recommendation. Details on AMOS:

Jeff Hoffman set up the new machine and named it pepper. The former machine has been renamed pepperold.
2021.01.26 pepperold accessible via Delos/NX. The new pepper does not yet have NX/Forge installed. Brian and John Hammonds are working on that.

I’m attending the 2nd option for the remote access discussion with John Hammonds. Zhan Zhang was describing difficulty seeing the cursor in remote access, and they thought it was due to their old NVidia video card and old computer. We also have issues with cursor becoming invisible sometimes, especially for ImageJ. Troy was also attending, and looked at the specs on pepper. He says pepper and our nvidia card do not meet the specs for remote access via NX, and should be upgraded to newer equipment.
Troy, can you recommend a replacement machine/card for us?

Why does the desktop look so lousy in terms of memory?
I guess it is 32 GB, not too bad, kind of like quartz.

It has more slots. I don't think a z2 has enoungh slots for a video card and a 10Gb card. It will support like 192GB of RAM I think. |
