Hi Tom and Eric,

Seems like swapping the VME crate went well, but I think I might not have connected the SoftGlue board well enough.
It seemed to be working as judging from the UI, but it was not working right – as judged by the input signal on
the fast shutter. I swapped things over to the SoftGlueB board and that worked.

However, I think I had a double fault, and besides the one SoftGlue board, I also had to swap the controller
for the fast shutter with the 8-ID-E (WA-XPCS) fast shutter controller.

To summarize, I was not getting the correct signal on the coax cable for the input to the fast shutter until I
swapped the soft glue board. Then with the s input to the fast shutter toggling correctly, the fast shutter was
still stuck in the open position until I swapped the fast shutter controller. I think I see on the 8-ID-G
controller that when the signal goes low to close the shutter, the LEDs on the module that accepts the
input signal go red, but the shutter does not close. With the 8-ID-E controller, toggling the input
signal makes the shutter open and close and no LEDs light on the module that accepts the input.

I hope everything else keeps working through the end of July!

Joe

Hello,

my colleague Joe Strzalka has a problem a few weeks ago with your controller
serial number LA75-12-044. Here is what he explained to me:

"The LEDs light is red when you try to close the shutter, indicating failure. I think that it
does not occur with our other controller (SN 43). Odd, but I think it is stuck in the open position. "

As stated above, Joe borrowed my shutter controller LA75-12-043 and the piezo shutter opens and closes
fully. We currently have three controllers so we can send Joe's controller back for diagnostics and repair.

Please let us know what is our next move.

Regards,

Eric
