Subject: missing steps on samx.

Vladimir reports of missing steps on samx.
It is quite noticeable because we have a high resolution camera looking
at his sample.

He mentions 1.5 um lost after a scan.

It is currently driven by a SPD32M running in X8 ministepping mode with 1 A.

The stage is a Huber 5102.1

Hello,

I using one of your SPD32M to drive a Vexta PK244-01B in X8 ministepping. I am loosing steps when running in 1A mode.
I am wondering whether I should push the current to 1.5A.

I am hoping you can provide advice here.

Regards,

Hi Eric,

Morning. Thank you for contacting Oriental motor tech support. Regarding your inquiry,
the maximum current for the motor PK244-01B is 0.85A/phase [Bipolar series]

Let me know if you have any questions.

Mr Marshall,

thank you for your response. In light of the message below from Oriental motor, I think I'll reduce the ministepping to
increase the torque and see if this improves.

Cheers,

Eric

Changed settings of samx to 1000 steps/revolution and on SPD32M to 5 mini steps per step.
It thus means 1000 steps/revolution for this 200 step/rev motor.

Attachment 2 shows the new set up screen. Could not increase motor current so hopefully,
this will work to increase the torque.
