The attached documents describe how to set up the Canberra MCA that belongs to 8-ID. These documents assume that the MCA is configured in EPICS and the devices themselves are in a powered-up NIM bin and are connected to the 8-ID network. The Powerpoint has been included so that it may be edited and re-uploaded
Here are some additional notes that should go into the PowerPoint eventually:
* For Vortex-E detector (Detector Pool DP00140), and Canberra AMP/TCA 2016B
- shaping time = 0.5 us
- coarse gain = 100
- fine gain = 14.10
* medm MCA ADC 1 screen, anti-coincidence for no gate signal and coincidence if gate signal
* Useful to use Americium source with foils to calibrate range of energies - and found useful to use only alpha lines as calibration input (Fe-> Mn via source and Cu, Rb, Mo, Ag Kalpha).
When adding RI's via Mark Rivers program, enter ROI's as Cu Ka, Mn Ka --- i.e., space before line is REQUIRED!
Obtain following MCA calibration parameters:
